Carol Wilhide is a printmaker living and working in London.
She went to Brighton Polytechnic for her Foundation year in 1978.
After that she went to Newcastle–upon-Tyne Polytechnic 1980-3. She graduated with a BA 2.1 degree in Graphic Design. On leaving college she specialised in linocuts that happily blend the disciplines of Fine Art and Graphic Design.
She worked for many years as a freelance illustrator for publishers, such as Conran/Octopus, Faber & Faber, and Bloomsbury. She also made editorial illustrations for numerous magazines. Carol now mainly produces prints for exhibitions, which has given her a greater creative freedom. The inspiration for her prints comes from many sources, notably the circus, the human figure and cats. Carol has had three one-woman shows and taken part in many group exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Her name is included in the Who’s Who Book of Artists 2008. Carol also holds a PGCE (Post-graduate Certificate in Education) and has worked as an artist in residence with children in schools as well as major art galleries. Using her married name Carol Justin, she teaches art classes for children at Moss Hall School and art workshops for children and adults at the Arts Depot in North Finchley. She is also involved with The Little Angel Puppet Theatre in Islington as a workshop leader.
